Programmes

CMS-NAU has developed five postgraduate programmes in Migration Studies:

  1. Master of Arts in Migration Studies (M.A.) for those who are coming into the study of migration from the background of the Arts and Humanities;
  2. Master of Science in Migration Studies (M.Sc.) for those who are coming into the study of migration from the background of the Sciences;
  3. Master of Migration Studies (MMS). The target students here are the various state and non-state actors in migration policy development and implementation: officials in the various ministries, departments and agencies of Government, civil society organizations, etc.
  4. MPhil in Migration Studies which will lead to a PhD, for those who are coming into the study of migration from other academic backgrounds.
  5. PhD in Migration Studies, for those with M.A or M.Sc. in Migration Studies.

While M. A. and M.Sc. are academic degrees designed for scholars whose interest in migration is academic, the MMS is a professional degree for those professionally involved in migration. The postgraduate programmes took off in the 2019-2020 academic session.

Beyond the postgraduate degree programmes, the Centre also offers short certificate programmes under the CMS-NAU Rain School. Under the Rain School, the Centre  collaborates with departments and faculties of the University as well as with external bodies, organizations and institutions to organize general interest programmes on migration or specific focus programmes that address organizational needs and emerging trends and issues in migration.
