Honourable Federal Commissioner NCFRMI commissions CMS-NAU

On 28th August, 2018, all roads of the migration community in Nigeria led to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka in Anambra State, South East, Nigeria. Nnamdi Azikiwe University, in collaboration with the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) and the Civil Society Network on Migration and Development was hosting a major sensitization on the Dangers of Irregular Migration. The event was aimed at educating our youths on the many risks they face when they embark on irregular migration. The school environment was chosen because most youths conceive and hatch their decision to migrate in this environment. The event was organized by the School of Postgraduate Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

The Honourable Federal Commissioner (NCFRMI), commissioned the Centre for Migration Studies. The Centre is the first of its kind in Nigeria, and it is a welcome development. After due inspection, the Commissioner said it is a good step in the right direction. The occasion was witnessed by the University representatives led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor; the CSOnetMADE, other civil society representatives, the IOM; and the members of the TWG.
