Attitude Of Host Communities Towards Migrants During Covid-19 Lockdown: Implications For Psycho-Emotional Behaviours

Abstract:

Covid-19 lock-down created uncountable problems not only to the natives but migrants as well. It has positive and negative implications. The lock-down affected migrants on transit and those that have arrived at their destination. The presence of migrants in communities aroused fear, which activated negative attitudes towards them. The negative attitudes include rejection, forceful isolation, stereotype, discrimination against, and inability to access critical facilities in the host communities. This triggered loneliness, degeneration of mental and physical health, suicidal ideation, hatred, and widened the interpersonal relationship gap between natives and migrants.
